What is Emend Used for
Emend (Aprepitant) is an oral medicine that is used to alleviate nausea and vomiting caused by surgery or chemotherapy. Emend is intended to prevent these symptoms from occurring; it does not treat nausea or vomiting that has already begun. It’s generally used in conjunction with other medications.
Emend Mechanism of Action
Emend belongs to the antiemetics class of drugs. It acts by blocking the action of neurokinin, a brain chemical that induces nausea and vomiting.
Emend for Nausea
Emend has a few limitations, one of which is that it hasn’t been tested for the treatment of chronic nausea and vomiting.
Emend Dose
Each capsule for oral administration comprises of either Emend 40 mg, 80 mg, or 125 mg.
