- Avoid increasing the dose or using this drug more frequently or for a longer duration than prescribed. Doing so will not expedite improvement, and it may elevate the risk of serious side effects.
- Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should refrain from handling this medication or inhaling dust from the tablets, as the drug can be absorbed through the skin and lungs, potentially harming an unborn baby.
- Possible side effects of bicalutamide may include hot flashes, breast swelling/tenderness/pain, nausea, vomiting, constipation, diarrhea, stomach upset, weight changes, headache, trouble sleeping, drowsiness, or dizziness. Inform your doctor or pharmacist promptly if any of these effects persist or worsen.
- The prescribed medication is deemed beneficial by your doctor, with the advantages outweighing potential risks for most users.
- Report to your doctor immediately if you experience serious side effects, such as increased thirst/urination, decreased sexual ability/desire, mental/mood changes (anxiety, depression), swelling hands/ankles/feet, shortness of breath, increased coughing, numb/tingling skin, bone/joint pain, unusual tiredness, muscle weakness, painful/bloody urination, or signs of infection (sore throat that doesn’t go away, fever, chills).
- Seek medical help promptly if you encounter very serious side effects, including chest/jaw/left arm pain.
- Rarely, this medication may cause serious (possibly fatal) liver disease. Get immediate medical help if you observe symptoms such as nausea/vomiting that doesn’t stop, loss of appetite, yellowing eyes/skin, stomach/abdominal pain, or dark urine.
- A severe allergic reaction to this drug is rare. However, seek immediate medical help if you notice symptoms of a serious allergic reaction, such as rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, or trouble breathing.

- The medication may increase sensitivity to the sun. Limit sun exposure, avoid tanning booths and sunlamps, and use sunscreen and protective clothing outdoors. Report sunburn or skin blisters/redness to your doctor.
- Before surgery, inform your doctor or dentist about all products you use, including prescriptions, non-prescriptions, and herbal products.
- This medication should not be used in women, especially during pregnancy or breastfeeding, as it may harm an unborn or breastfeeding baby. Consult your doctor for more information. Male patients and their female partners should use reliable forms of birth control during and for 130 days after bicalutamide treatment since it may damage sperm.
