Side effects

- Dizziness and lightheadedness can increase the risk of falling. Get up slowly when rising from a sitting or lying position.
- Tell your doctor right away if you have any serious side effects, including fainting, mental/mood changes, trouble swallowing, restlessness, shaking (tremor), muscle spasm, mask-like expression of the face, seizures, trouble controlling certain urges, interrupted breathing during sleep.
Precautions
- Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to aripiprazole or any other medicines.
- Tell your doctor about your medical history, especially if you have problems with blood flow in the brain, diabetes, heart problems, nervous system problems, obesity, low white blood cell count, swallowing problems, or breathing trouble during sleep.
- This medication may make you dizzy or drowsy or blur your vision. Do not drive, use machinery, or do anything that needs alertness or clear vision until you can do it safely.
- This medication may make you sweat less, making you more likely to get heatstroke. Avoid doing things that may cause you to overheat, such as hard work or exercise in hot weather, or using hot tubs.
- Liquid preparations of this product may contain sugar. Caution is advised if you have diabetes.
- Older adults may be more sensitive to the side effects of this drug, especially seizures, drowsiness, dizziness, lightheadedness, confusion, tardive dyskinesia, swallowing problems, and other serious (rarely fatal) side effects.
- Before having surgery, tell your doctor or dentist about all the products you use (including prescription drugs, nonprescription drugs, and herbal products).
- During pregnancy, this medication should be used only when clearly needed.
- This medication passes into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
